While in Kyoto, don’t miss stopping by Kumonocha, near Kiyomizu Temple. (Perhaps we can even stop there while you’re on one of our Kyoto tours!) The shop is located along Sannenzaka, a bustling historic walking street that leads up to Kiyomizu Temple. It’s a great store to enjoy a cute, Kyoto-style, super Instagrammable dessert.
Located halfway up the steep Sannenzaka stairs, the store is across from a beautiful cherry tree. The interior is stylish modern interior, with warm welcoming wood. You can sit inside or outdoor in their small patio, which has some super aesthetic lanterns to include in the obligatory Instagram pic.
This shop is super trendy right now with visitors and Japanese alike. Kumonocha, which has a few locations in Kyoto, is known for a cloud-shaped dessert that comes with a special drink. The little cloud has a crispy shell around a soft matcha mousse and adzuki beans. For a drink, you can choose from a few fruity beverages or a matcha latte.
I enjoyed the recommended matcha cloud dessert and the matcha latte. I love that they put a little cloud as latte art! Too cute. Although this isn’t the most delicious dessert I’ve eaten in Kyoto, it’s definitely unique and worth trying (if the café isn’t too busy, which it definitely can be) just for the ‘gram.
